Bruce insists Hull will make signings, plays cool on pursuit of Brentford striker Gray

Hull City manager Steve Bruce assures fans that the club will make signings before the start of the Championship campaign.

Hull have lost a host of key players this summer and to add to the summer exodus, the Tigers were forced into selling star men Robbie Brady and James Chester on Wednesday. "There's no doubt it's been a difficult couple of weeks," said Bruce. "Everybody understands that and hopefully in the next few weeks we can start to do our business.

"We have had to wait and sit around for people to come back from work. June was a non-entity for everybody and it's starting to pick up. I can assure supporters we are doing our best to make sure when the season starts we'll have a squad capable of getting to where we want to be.

"It would be wrong for any manager or coach to speak about an individual when they are not theirs. So when it's right we will let everybody know. We're close to one or two things and let's hope we can get them done."
