The brother of Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano says the Argentina captain wants to join Barcelona.

Sebastian Mascherano told COM Radio: "If Barca actually make a very good cash offer, I figure I can get Javier to leave Liverpool.

"Lionel Messi and Javier have spoken. Leo is the one who most insists that Javier could play for Barca.

"He may be given the opportunity. Today, negotiations are sometimes fast and one day you are playing for one club and the next at another club."

However, he added: "I do not know what can happen in these coming days, but for now, I think, he is going to be Liverpool's player."
