Bronx challenge Flushing Meadows for New York City FC stadium

Bronx Borough president Ruben Diaz Jr. has sent an open letter to MLS Commissioner Don Garber regarding plans for a stadium for MLS expansion franchise New York City FC.

The 20th MLS club, owned by Manchester City and New York Yankees, will enter the North American top flight in 2015 and play its home games at a temporary location for the first couple of seasons.

MLS officials have been laying down the possibility of developing a soccer-specific stadium in Flushing Meadows but Diaz Jr. is eager to bring NYCFC to the Bronx - http://bronxboropres.nyc.gov/pdf/2013-06-13-letter-mls.pdf

NYCFC have now been handed the reins in regards to the stadium search and are believed to be pondering the potential of a development in the Bronx.
