Bristol City decide against deal for Man Utd's Barnes

Bristol City manager Gary Johnson has decided not to extend the trial spell of former Manchester United winger Michael Barnes.

The 20-year-old played 69 minutes of the 1-1 draw with Forest Green on Saturday but did not do enough to earn a spot on the club's forthcoming trip to Portugal.

Johnson told the club's official website: "We thank Michael for spending time with us but we've told him that at the moment there isn't an opportunity for him here.

"We'll keep an eye on his progress wherever he ends up."
