Brisbane Roar back in full pre-season training

Brisbane Roar have begun pre-season training in the hope to get an edge on their A-League rivals.

Midfielder Matt McKay said things had kicked off with a lower intensity but it was all worthwhile as they work towards season 2010/11.

"It's good to be back and everything is running smoothly," the 27 year-old said.

"We've started training at a slightly lower level ... trying to hold yourself back and make sure your body is right for the first couple of weeks.

"(But) everyone has come back in pretty good nick."

McKay added that training had changed to what it usually is at this time of year as the Roar coaches tinker with a new plan going forward.

"I think (the coaching staff) are going with a different ethos this season," he added.

"We are straight onto the ball ... integrating the conditioning side with the ball.

"I'm happy with that, it gives me a number of touches on the ball and will get us ready for the first round."
