Brighton boss Gus Poyet is chasing Newcastle United midfielder Alan Smith.
Poyet wants Newcastle midfielder Alan Smith to join his big mate Harper on the south coast, says the Daily Star.
The veteran keeper, 36, signed for the Seagulls on a month's loan earlier this week and Smith could follow him.
But the former England man, whose Toon contract ends next summer, is also interesting West Ham United and former club Leeds United.
