Brighton captain Dunk: Slow start cost us against Newcastle

Brighton captain Lewis Dunk admits a slow start cost them defeat at Newcastle.

The 4-1 result is a blow to Brighton's European hopes.

Dunk later said: "I think first half we lose the game. We didn't start well enough and they got on top of us and two-nil down here is not good enough. They're a physical side, they're a good side and it's hard. Second half we were better but I think the first half killed us.

"The first half wasn't us. We didn't give up and we fought hard and we've got three games left and have to get ready for the next one now. We believed we had to score the next goal [at 2-1] and unfortunately we conceded the third and the fourth and the game went. We have to dust ourselves down and go to the next one.

"We have a good squad and the boys that come on affected the game. It's done and dusted now. We have three games left and we have six points to guarantee it. It's up to us if we want to make history at this football club. We have to take that and perform better on Sunday."
