Brighton boss Potter excited to work with Welbeck

Brighton boss Graham Potter is delighted with their deal for Danny Welbeck.

Brighton announced at the weekend that they had signed former Manchester United and Arsenal striker Welbeck on a one-year deal after his contract at Watford was terminated on 6 October.

"He's only had a couple of days with us, but he is looking good," said Potter. "He's made a really good impression.

"We're letting him settle into his first couple of days with the team. He brings a lot to the group, on and off the field. Our challenge is to get him up to speed to play in the Premier League."

Brighton go into the weekend 16th in the Premier League, with four points from five games so far, with newly-promoted West Brom two points below them in 17th.

"We're happy with the spirit in the group," said Potter. "The performance on Sunday [against Palace] was positive.

"We have a lot of healthy competition in the group and people want to help the team. I have a lot of choices, which is good."
