Brighton boss Hughton won't rule out Dembele bid; confident going to Huddersfield

Brighton boss Chris Hughton is coy over their interest in Celtic striker Moussa Dembele.

Reports have linked them with a £20 million bid for Celtic marksman Dembele this week.

Hughton said: "If they are the figures being mentioned then that's very big money.

"We make no secret that our recruitment department is still working as hard as they have ever done. We will either improve the squad in January or we won't.

"There will always be lots of names linked to us, the same as everyone else. But we know it will be a time when it will be even more difficult to bring in players that you want because of the market.

"If we thought it was expensive in summer then potentially it could be even more this January."

Meanwhile, Hughton is confident going to Huddersfield.

The Seagulls head to the John Smith's Stadium this afternoon having picked up six points from the last nine on the road and the manager admitted it has come as a pleasant surprise.

He said: “The away form has delighted me – that's the hardest thing to do, and to have achieved it in this division as well is pleasing.

“We have to make sure our home performances now turn into wins on the flipside of that – the benefits of draws are that you're not losing, but we know we have to pick up some wins as well.

“For a team that's been promoted you'd expect to pick up more points at home and I didn't expect us to be where we are at this stage with our away points total - so it's a real nice surprise for us."
