Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi admits Tariq Lamptey is playing his way into his plans.
The fullback impressed in victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday.
De Zerbi said: “I am trying to find the solution playing without a winger.
“If you want to attack, if you want to create chances to score, you can be able to keep inside with the ball.
“But without man-to-man in the winger position, it is very tough to score.
“Tariq is different to Mitoma on the left side and he can be important in man-to-man situations, in attacking space better than Pervis.
“Pervis is better than Tariq when he starts from the second line and he can see the pitch.
“Tariq can start in man-to-man. He can drive the ball inside the pitch.
“I thought he played very well and was very important to us."
