Brentford boss Thomas Frank says victory over Nottingham Forest was deserved.

Ivan Toney struck in his comeback game from his betting ban, with Neal Maupay eventually scoring the winner.

Frank said: "First and foremost, three big points, no hiding around that. It was a massive win for us. I think it was a well deserved win in many ways, we played a fine game without being through the roof. But in the end it was well deserved.

"What I would say is yes, Ivan is important, he was again today, but there are 10 other players on the pitch and no-one can do it alone. One player in particular I would like to praise is Neal Maupay. Since he came back to the club this is his fifth goal and three assists, something like that, and today was obviously a crucial goal. A top striker goal. Top win, very pleased.

"I think first half we struggled to get on top of the game, it was a little bit back and forth. I don't think we managed to bank them in enough or create enough from open play.

"At half-time we talked a bit about taking less touches, playing forward a bit more. In the second half we were much better in the half-transitions."

On the response to going behind early, he said: "I think it says a lot about the team. To have Ivan back is huge but for someone to then come and try to ruin the party, the players had to show character and resilience to get back in the game, which they did."

On Toney's return, he also stated: "Extremely impressive performance, he's been out for eight months. Of course he has been training and working really hard and he was on it. But besides the goal, his link up play, his hold up play, the presence and the character, wow."

On Toney moving the ball before scoring, Frank concluded: "To be fair I didn't see that, I don't know about it. I don't know what to say to that. It's a goal and it stands.
