Everton youngster Patrick Boyle is determined to make a first team breakthrough this season.

A freak back injury sustained whilst on loan at Norwich in the early months of last season ruled Boyle out for the campaign - putting on hold his first-team aspirations.

But a fit-again Boyle told evertonTV: "I am just glad to be back in and amongst it. Last season started well but the injury set me back and I have missed out on a year. I am just looking forward to getting a pre-season under my belt, getting my head down and seeing what happens.

"You always have to look on the positive side of things. Vaughany was out for well over a year and you just have to look at how well he has done since he came back in. He became an important part of the team."
