Bournemouth talent Cargill eager to prove himself at Coventry

AFC Bournemouth defender Baily Cargill plans to use his loan spell at Coventry City as an opportunity to continue his development along the road to becoming a Premier League footballer.

Cargill made his debut for the League One club against Port Vale last weekend and will spend the rest of the campaign on loan at the Sky Blues.

"It is difficult as a young central defender to break into a Premier League side so I've played in a lot of cup games which I've really enjoyed," Cargill told Bournemouth's official website.

"I really appreciated it when I was given the captain's armband by Eddie Howe, it filled me with a lot of confidence. He said some nice words and it was such an honour to have it at the age of 20.

"Tony Mowbray has basically told me to play how I know. Coventry are a similar side in a lot of ways to Bournemouth as both teams like to play out from the back.

"I was quite busy on my debut but I prefer it like that, someone told me I did 22 headers during the Port Vale game which is an introduction to the level, but I like it as it kept me busy and you're always going to be sharper.

"I've been out on loan three times now and each time I feel as though as I've gone back to Bournemouth a better player. I've been at Conference and League Two levels so I'm looking to step up again here to prove myself."
