Bournemouth chief Bond cools Sheringham talk

Bournemouth chief Kevin Bond has played down speculation linking former England striker Teddy Sheringham with a move to Dean Court.

Reports over the weekend suggested 41-year-old Sheringham, who is a free agent after being released by West Ham and is eager to continue playing, could be set to join fellow veteran Darren Anderton on the south coast.

But Bond, who coached Sheringham at Portsmouth, told the Echo: "I haven't spoken to Teddy.

"He is a player I've worked with before and somebody I've got the utmost respect for.

"Like everybody else, I have read that Teddy has stated that he wants to continue playing and so he should because he can still play, he wants to play and has the desire to play.

"I think every player should play for as long as they can providing they can do themselves justice, and he certainly can."
