Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola admitted frustration after missing out on Gaetano Castrovilli.
The Italy midfielder has now returned to Fiorentina after failing a Cherries medical.
Iraola told the Daily Echo: “I think we need help in this position. The club knows.
“I think he was a good signing for us, because he could help us in the number eight position.
“I think he is good, defensively and offensively. But he didn't pass the medical, so we have to move on and go for another option."
Iraola added: “The club is going to try to sign new players this week, because we have some areas that obviously still lack some players probably, with injuries in the middle and full-back positions.
“But we also want to make the right decisions, not because we need to sign as soon as we can, we are going to sign a player we don't want.
“We have to balance everything and take the best decisions."
