Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti will be without the services of Portugal international Jose Bosingwa for three months, reports Mirror Sport. The right-back has undergone surgery in a bid to rid him of a problematic knee injury.
After consultation between Chelsea physios and the specialists, it was agreed that the ligament would require surgery in order to prevent a worsening of the problem.
The defender will also be absent from Portugal's crucial World Cup qualification play-off with Bosnia.
Portugal coach Carlos Queiroz, said: "We have spoken with Bosingwa to try to lift his spirits and it's a bad blow to be without him for the play-offs.
"But we wish him well for his recuperation for his club, and also to be available for the World Cup, where hopefully we will be next summer."
