Liverpool reserves coach Rodolfo Borrell was proud of his players after their 0-0 draw with Everton.
The Blues fielded the likes of Leon Osman, Jack Rodwell, Victor Anichebe, Seamus Coleman, Phil Jagielka and James McFadden, but Borrell's talented youngsters were more than a match for their hosts.
"I am delighted with the lads, they played some good football and were unlucky not to win," Borrell told Liverpoolfc.tv.
"We created some great chances but the Everton goalkeeper made some excellent saves. To play like that against an experienced team gives us a lot of encouragement for the future."
