Bolton's Muamba: I was always leaving Mickey-Mouse Birmingham

Bolton Wanderers midfielder Fabrice Muamba has branded the goings-on at Birmingham City as "Mickey-Mouse".

He left on a sour note as co-owner David Sullivan claimed Steve Bruce's final signings - including Muamba - were 'a pile of old rubbish'.

But Muamba, 21, admits he was after a move for months, despite only been at Birmingham for a year.

He said: "Would I have stayed if Birmingham had stayed up? No. I'd decided to go when I knew Bolton were interested in me.

"Bolton is a great club. Everything about this club is very professional. Top to bottom things run smoothly.

"There's no Mickey Mouse stuff here. I'm surrounded by people who have been there and done it in the game. While I was at Birmingham it was more inexperienced. That's the biggest difference."

Sullivan and Karren Brady are set to bow out after today's clash but England Under-21 ace Muamba admits he is still baffled by the statements made by the outgoing owner.

He added: "When he made those comments I thought 'What's going on here'? But I'm professional. I don't need to dwell on it. I've moved on.

"When Brucie left it was all a bit inappropriate. It happened because the Chinese guy didn't want him."
