Bolton Wanderers midfielder Gavin McCann is confident of being fit for the start of the new season.

The Lancashire-born star produced some brilliant displays at the end of last season and played despite a troublesome knee injury.

Immediately after helping Wanderers retain their Premier League status, McCann flew to America for an operation.

"It went well," insists the former Villa favourite. "All being well I'll be fine when I report back for training next month."
