Bolton Wanderers captain Kevin Davies admits Middlesbrough's talking before Saturday's game inspired them to their 4-1 triumph.

Boro players talked themselves up, but their words proved hollow as Gary Megson's Bolton - inspired by skipper Davies - demolished them.

He said: "They said a few things in the build-up, about coming here and rolling us over. That just fired the boys up that bit more.

"We just showed some of our lads a few of the quotes. They said they could come to our patch and get a result. But we were up for this game."
