Bolton skipper Davies eyeing swift start to new season

Bolton captain Kevin Davies is hoping for a strong start to the upcoming Premier League campaign.

The Trotters have strengthened their squad this summer whilst performing well in pre-season matches and Davies is well aware the recording points early in the piece will hold them in good stead.

"Pre-season has gone pretty well. The squad is getting bigger and there have been some good additions. Everybody is getting fitter day by day and we have had some good tests in the games that we have played," he told the club's official website.

"Any season in the Premier League is going to be difficult so we have to make sure that we hit the ground running.

"We've been working extremely hard from day one of pre-season up until now and the wins obviously breed confidence.

"They have been enjoyable games in which we've played good stuff and scored plenty of goals. We've got one more game on Friday night and then we will be ready."

Bolton take on Premier League newcomers QPR at Loftus Road in the season opener on Saturday, August 13.
