Bolton Wanderers see Belgian centre half Timothy Derijck a readymade replacement for Gary Cahill.
The Daily Mail says Trotters manager Owen Coyle watched the 23-year-old play for Dutch side Den Haag last Friday.
Derijck, a former Feyenoord player, has been with Den Haag since 2009 and is their captain but he has just one year left on his contract and strong performances have alerted Bolton's interest.
Bolton are bracing themselves for a big-money bid for Gary Cahill this summer and need cover at centre half.
