Bolton Wanderers intend to offer defender Gary Cahill a new contract with the summer transfer window now closed.
The Mirror says Cahill will be offered a new deal shortly and may be sold in January's window if he refuses - especially if a Champions League club tries for him.
Coyle was backed in his decision by Bolton's chairman Phil Gartside and owner Eddie Davies - the man who has kept the club afloat with his financial backing for the past decade.
