Bolton Wanderers' hopes in landing Portsmouth midfielder Sean Davis are in the balance.
The Bolton News says after rebuffing Gary Megson's deadline-day bid, former Pompey boss Tony Adams underlined his commitment to keeping Davis at Portsmouth by improving a three-and-a-half year contract offer that had been tabled at the start of the season.
But with Adams sacked last week, Paul Hart placed in temporary charge, and a host of other names now being linked with the position, the midfielder's future is anything but clear.
Davis could become the third player to make the move in recent times, with former Fratton Park favourites Andy O'Brien and Matty Taylor already on Megson's books.
