Bolton Wanderers legend John McGinlay has urged Owen Coyle to move for Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz.
In his column for the Bolton News, the Scot wrote: "It simply hasn't happened for Roque Santa Cruz since he left Blackburn for Eastlands, and if he were available in January and we were in the financial position to make him a decent offer, I'd get him in a shot.
"City are overloaded with strikers. Carlos Tevez is the captain, so picks himself, Mario Balotelli is Roberto Mancini's signing, so he's going nowhere, and you've still got the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor and Jo ahead of him in the queue, so his career is going absolutely nowhere.
"Given that Johan Elmander isn't rushing to sign a new contract, I'm sure Owen is looking around for what might be available.
"And what would City want for a player who's doing nothing but kicking his heels?
"I know Sam Allardyce has been linked with taking him to Blackburn but let's face it, if we can stay within touch of the European places over Christmas, then that's going to be a massive draw."
