Bolton Wanderers have invited Arsenal to bid for defender Gary Cahill.
The London Evening Standard says the Gunners have been encouraged by Bolton to make a £20million bid for England defender Cahill this month.
The Gunners have now been told to make an offer, which meets Bolton's valuation, during this transfer window having originally being informed they would have to wait until the summer to land their top defensive target.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is thought to be pondering a £10m opening bid for the 25-year-old as he searches for cover following Thomas Vermaelen's surgery on an Achilles injury which will sideline him for at least six more weeks.
