Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill is in the sights of Manchester United.
The Daily Star says United have started looking for a replacement for the injury-plagued Rio Ferdinand.
Bolton's Cahill is on manager Sir Alex Ferguson's radar.
When last asked about Ferdinand's fitness problems over a month ago, Fergie said: "You have to remember Rio's been in first-team football since he was 17.
"That's a long time so he will pick up these little strains - but I'm sure this isn't a long-term thing."
