Gary Cahill hopes his first goal for England is a sign of better things to come.

Bolton defender Cahill, who seemed set for a transfer-window move to Arsenal, said he was pleased to forget an unsettling month.

He said: "It's been a crazy week, mentally. But once the window shut I knew obviously I was staying so I'll get my head down and work hard for Bolton and work hard for my country."
