Bolton boss Owen Coyle is bracing himself for bad news regarding the knee injury to defender Zat Knight.
The 30-year old fell awkwardly in a tangle with Everton's Victor Anichebe in the first half of his side's 2-0 win at Reebok Stadium on Sunday and had to be replaced prior to the half-hour mark by new signing David Wheater.
Coyle said it didn't look particularly good and was keeping his fingers crossed for Knight who has been a mainstay in the back four for the last season-and-a-half for the Trotters.
"He will need to have a scan but it does not look great. He was cheery enough when I saw him in the dressing room," Coyle said.
"It could be ligament damage to his knee but we hope it is not too severe because Zat has been outstanding for me since I arrived at the club. He is a big, big player for us."
