Bolton boss Megson looking to increase squad size

Gary Megson admits the size of his Bolton Wanderers squad needs to be increased if the Trotters are to make any impression in the Premiership. "I think there needs to be a switch of perception, not just at this club but at a lot of football clubs of what we're actually competing for," said Megson on Sky Sports News.

"I think this is the most difficult league in the world by a street. You only have to look at the semi-finals again of the Champions League.

"And if you look at the finances available to Tottenham, Manchester City, Everton and Aston Villa, and all these people, it's not so much a pecking order, but there are a lot of huge, huge football clubs in the Premiership.

"I think the position we're in at the moment is decent, but it's not something where we want to just sit back and say that's as good as we can do. I think we can do better if we've got better.

"One of the things that's happened to us this season, and I've just been looking it, is that we've ran with a squad of 23 players, which is including Joey O'Brien, who's not been fit right through the season.

"Of those 23, three are on loan, so we have been running with an outfield squad of 16 and we certainly need more than that, and that's something we need to address."
