Bolton boss Megson confident Cahill still has World Cup chance

Bolton Wanderers boss Gary Megson remains confident Gary Cahill can make England's World Cup squad.

Cahill, 23, endured a 14-hour round trip to Qatar for England’s friendly with Brazil on Saturday but is still waiting for his first cap.

But Megson said: “Gary has still got a fantastic chance of making the World Cup if he keeps performing for Bolton.

“I don’t think last weekend was a waste of time either. He got in the squad and he got on the bench for the first time.

“The fact that he got called up before players withdrew through injury is a sign that he’s inching further up the reckoning.”
