Bolton Wanderers boss Sammy Lee has given up hope of persuading Abdoulaye Faye to stay.

"Abdoulaye's a terrific character but I couldn't put him in (against Reading) because his focus wasn't right," said Lee. "An awful lot has gone on and I just want the situation resolved and so does he. I hope that happens this week. It has to be resolved this week."

Faye is expected to complete a £2 million move to Newcastle United before Friday's transfer deadline.
