Bolton boss Coyle tells Elmander: You need to score

Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle has told Johan Elmander he needs to start scoring.

Coyle, who has kept faith with the 29-year-old, was understandably delighted with his razor-sharp performance in the 0-0 draw with Fulham.

But now the Wanderers manager wants Elmander to add goals to his game.

"Johan was outstanding and fully deserved a goal," Coyle told the Bolton News. "There was a real positivity about him and his play and that's how he needs to be.

"I was worried because he'd been away on international duty in Scotland but I saw him in training and he looked fresh and hungry.

"He's got to keep banging away at the door and, when one of those goes in, hopefully he'll go on a spree and show why he came to the football club in the first place.

"The area he has to improve in is to get more goals to go with his play.

"It's a fresh start as far as I'm concerned. I've got belief in him and he looked a top, top player.

"But it's for Johan to show on a consistent basis. We all believe he has the potential to do that but, ultimately, he's the one who has to deliver and I think he's ready to do that."
