Marco Di Vaio is deserving of a return to the Italian national team according to teammate Sergio Volpi. Former Juventus striker Di Vaio has scored 12 goals this season and there has been a flood of calls for Marcello Lippi to select Di Vaio for the World Cup qualifiers in March 2009.

"I think he deserves an Italy shirt for what he is doing at the moment," Volpi said.

"If he keeps playing like this Marcello Lippi will have to give him a call."
