Bologna goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano believes he has a big chance of an Italy call this season.
The 24-year-old, who is co-owned by Inter Milan, is widely regarded as one of the best young keepers in Italy.
"Personally I don't know Cesare Prandelli, I don't know what his intentions are regarding goalkeepers," Viviano said. "You certainly need to show on the pitch that you deserve to be called up.
"It would be a dream for me to play for the national team in one of the Euro 2012 qualifiers that Italy will play in September in Florence, which is my city.
"However, I don't expect anything. It's up to the Coach to decide.
"Last year for me was very important. I'd already got experience playing in Serie B, but I wanted to test myself in Serie A and show that I know what I can do.
"Now comes the difficult part: consolidating your place at this level. But I am optimistic. I like this team. Bologna have enthusiasm for youngsters. A hungry group is being born and this is important to get good results."
