Bologna coach Thiago Motta on Torino defeat: I messed up

Bologna coach Thiago Motta says he's to blame for Monday night's defeat to Torino.

Toro won 1-0 via a goal from Yann Karamoh.

Motta later said, "In the first part of the first half we tried to play in a different way, we knew that Toro were looking for superiority and in that situation it's my responsibility thinking it could have gone differently.

"Then we fixed things and found the right distances, so the team he could press and win more balls. That's where we were in trouble, we can do better even if they took the lead and are used to defending aggressively.

"We tried to create something, but we have to do better and we had to have more pace. But Toro are also good in one-on-one situations. In the end, this is the story of the match, it's a shame because we were in a good moment and we were confident. We can do better with the ball, we proved it."

He added, "They're a good team, they know what they want and they had the bonus of taking the lead. And when they go forward it becomes more difficult because they know how to close aggressively without leaving any space. We could have done better."
