Manchester City striker Valeri Bojinov has told manager Sven Goran Eriksson he will be ready by Christmas after an operation on a knee ligament injury.

The young Bulgarian has called his manager to say he was walking soon after his operation and is doing four hours rehab a day.

"He told me he would be back in three months," said Eriksson. "He sounded on fire - we will have to see."
