Bodo/Glimt chief doubts Watford, Norwich big enough for Khaykin

Bodo/Glimt football chief Frode Thomassen has responded to reports of Premier League interest for goalkeeper Nikita Khaykin.

Norwich City and Watford had scouts check on the Russian in Europa League Conference action at Roma last week.

Thomasson stated: "To be honest, such rumours did not even reach us. And we have no suggestions from foreign clubs. Nikita worked at full power in our club and he has just amazing goalkeeper skills.

"You yourself may have seen his outstanding performance in Rome against Roma. This is the highest level. And we are glad for Nikita that he received a call to the national team, this also increases the prestige of our club. But he deserved an invitation with his work.

"We continue to develop, compete with big clubs in European competitions. There are five matches left in the championship and we have excellent chances to finish the season in first place. And if in such a situation arrives and Nikita thinks about leaving, it obviously must be some kind of big club in Russia or Europe. I think he will consider only those proposals that will allow him to take a big step forward."
