Thai tycoon Dejphon Chansiri has promised to remain true to the traditions of Sheffield Wednesday after completing his £37.5m takeover of the club, reports The Star. Championship rivals Cardiff City controversially changed their home kit colour from blue to red in 2012 in an attempt to make them more marketable in Asia. The decision caused outrage among the Bluebirds fans.
But new Wednesday chief Chansiri has vowed not to mess with their team colours.
Chansiri, speaking via a translator, told The Star: "Sheffield Wednesday is a club with a very rich history going back almost 150 years.
"In that time, there has been constant evolution. All I can say is that if there are any changes, it will be for the betterment of the club."
But he added: "Blue is my favourite colour. That (shirt change) is not on the table."
