Blackpool talk won’t distract Dundee Utd’s McNamara

Dundee United manager Jackie McNamara has not let Blackpool’s interest in him shift his focus from this weekend’s Scottish Cup final.

The Tangerines take on St Johnstone at Celtic Park on Saturday and McNamara is harnessing all of his energy into the historic encounter rather than pondering a possible shift to the English Championship.

"That proved no distraction to me at all," he told Sky Sports News.

"Nothing would take away from the preparations for the final. For me it was flattering to be linked with Blackpool but my focus is all on Saturday.

"You never know with football. You see the crazy goings on this week in Scottish football with managers losing their jobs and my sympathies go out to Danny Lennon (St Mirren) and Gary Locke (Heart of Midlothian) who have done fantastic jobs.

"So you never get carried away with wins and speculation. Just let other things take care of themselves."
