Blackpool came within a whisker of signing midfielder Mamadou Bah yesterday - only to miss out because of issues over a work permit.

The 22-year-old had jetted into England and agreed terms, and was all set to be unveiled as a Blackpool player before the deal fell through, says the Blackpool Gazette.

Bah, a Guinean international at French club Strasbourg, did end up getting a deadline day move though - joining Stuttgart on a long-term deal.
