Blackburn's Reid receives injury boost

Blackburn Rovers midfielder Steven Reid has received a boost after scans revealed he hadn't damaged his hamstring in reserves action this week.

Reid felt pain in his hamstring during the first half of Tuesday night's reserve match with Liverpool, and he was immediately taken off by manager Glyn Hodges as a precaution.

"They couldn't find anything at all on the scan so it might just have been some old scar tissue releasing itself," said chairman John Williams.

"They will scan Steven again in the next few days just to make sure they haven't missed anything and, assuming that's okay, he could be back in training again early next week."
