Blackburn Rovers have joined the race for Santos Laguna's Ecuador striker Cristian Benitez.

The Mirror says Rovers boss Paul Ince is sending his top scout to watch the little goalscorer in action for Mexican club Santos Laguna this weekend and Rovers are poised to make an offer.

But Steve Bruce has revealed the striker will be Wigan's top January target.

Rovers have struggled to score this season and Ince wants to revamp his squad.
