Blackburn No2 Mathis: Ince wants winger signing

Blackburn Rovers assistant boss Ray Mathis admits manager Paul Ince is keen to add a new winger to his squad after selling David Bentley to Tottenham.

He said: "I think in our time in management, the gaffer has shown that he likes wingers who have got pace and can get good crosses into the box.

"We'll certainly be looking at that sort of player and getting someone with a lot of quality."

Asked about interest in Liverpool's Jermaine Pennant, Mathis also told the Lancashire Telegraph: "The papers make a lot of speculation. I'm sure there have been other people mentioned as well."
