Blackburn move to fill gap at boardroom level

Blackburn Rovers are set to appoint retired professional footballer Simon Hunt as their new sporting director, reports the Lancashire Telegraph. The 49-year-old's role will be to assist player recruitment at Ewood Park and help with the running of the club.

Hunt has previously been the sporting director at West Brom and, more recently, has been head of international scouting at Ipswich Town, and Portsmouth's chief scout.

Born in Cheshire, he made over 100 appearances for Wrexham before moving to Sweden for stints at IF Elfsborg, IK Brage and GAIS.
