Blackburn striker Jason Roberts could be used as a makeweight in the bid to bring Everton's James Beattie back to Ewood Park.

Beattie began his career at Ewood Park and is reportedly keen to return to his Lancashire roots after a disappointing season at Goodison.

David Moyes is understood to be willing to offload Beattie but has also enquired as to the availability of Roberts as a like-for-like replacement.

Now the two clubs are set for talks in an attempt to thrash out a money-plus-cash deal.
