The Mirror says West Ham are ready to swoop for Macclesfield's young right-back Hewitt - ahead of Premier League opposition.

A top Hammers scout watched the 17-year-old Welshman at the weekend after receiving rave reviews, and the London club may now take a chance on a player who has attracted major interest.

Leeds United's chief talent-spotter was also at the Silkmens' League Two match against Southend and Blackburn are also keeping an eye on Hewitt, although he is not ready for the top flight yet.
