Blackburn face Birmingham competition for Notts County keeper Schmeichel

Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish is ready to launch a bid for Notts County goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

The Sun says Eck is ready to turn to Schmeichel if he cannot land Joe Hart again next season.

The Birmingham boss hopes to persuade Manchester City to release keeper Hart, 22, on loan for another year.

Schmeichel, 23, son of Peter, was among the Magpies' big signings before the club's cash crisis.

Blackburn are also interested and County hope a bidding war forces his price up to £2million.
