Blackburn boss Hughes hits back at Arsenal's Van Persie

Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes has slammed Robin van Persie after criticism from the Arsenal striker over his team's style of play.

Van Persie gave a biting weekend interview in which he said Rovers "did not play hard, they just kicked" during the 1-1 draw.

Hughes said: "Football people who were at the game and see lots of games know how it was.

"I don't think there were any complaints from Everton when that was just as committed a game.

"Van Persie isn't whiter than white - he committed three fouls and had four fouls against him. Some of the phrasing he used in trying to explain how we go about our business was uncalled for."
