Blackburn boss Allardyce must mend growing rifts

Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce is under huge pressure to turn fortunes around at Ewood Park.

The Mirror says Allardyce and his players had angry words in the dressing room after their disappointing defeat by Manchester City - and there are growing groans at board-room level about recent displays.

But the real breaking point could be brought on by the fans who mocked the team at City and are now in open revolt about the side's tactics and the form of key players.

Now Allardyce needs results and performances in the next two home games against Aston Villa in the Carling Cup tomorrow night and the home game with Roy Hodgson's Fulham.

The discontent has been increasing since Allardyce came back from his break with a heart condition, with his team failing to win a game since as the slide continues.

There was fury all round in the dressing room when Allardyce laid into the players after the City hammering, with a couple of leading seniors snapping back about the way the game had gone.
